Buckshot Roulette is a tense horror strategy game where luck, risk and clever decisions shape every round at a mysterious tabletop showdown.
Buckshot Roulette takes the familiar idea of Russian Roulette and gives it a dark tabletop twist. Created by indie developer Mike Klubnika, the game first appeared on itch.io in December 2023. Its small setting, unsettling atmosphere, and simple rules create an experience that feels surprisingly intense without needing a huge world or complicated interface.
GAMEPLAY AT THE TABLE
Buckshot Roulette begins with two gamblers facing one another. One becomes the current wagerer, while the other takes the opposing position. The wager can range from 1 to 3 drops, creating different levels of risk.
The dealer then prepares the shotgun according to the current round. The wagerer's choice determines what happens next, while the other player must deal with the uncertainty of the result. If the round does not produce the expected outcome, the wager can shift to the other player. Certain situations also require the next wager to increase compared with the previous one. Once the current exchange ends, the available wager range returns to 1-3 drops, keeping the next decision open.
The Setup
The basic match centers on a dealer and gamblers. The dealer manages the shotgun and shells, while two players take their places at the table and compete through a series of wagers.
Before the action begins, the game's setup establishes the equipment and starting resources. Once everything is ready, the players alternate through rounds while keeping track of the current wager.
Reading the Opponent
Luck is important, but simply relying on chance is rarely enough. Buckshot Roulette rewards players who notice patterns and think about why their opponent made a particular choice. Pay attention to previous wagers and the way the opponent reacts to different situations. Sometimes the safest-looking option may not be the most useful one, while taking an unnecessary risk can quickly limit future choices.
The AI opponent is designed to respond to the situation on the table rather than follow one fixed sequence. As a result, players cannot simply memorize one winning pattern and repeat it every time.
Simple Control
The controls are intentionally straightforward. Players interact with the tabletop equipment through actions such as preparing the shotgun, checking the current setup, aiming, and confirming their choice.
That approach also strengthens the horror atmosphere. The quiet setting and limited information leave plenty of room for anticipation, even when very little is happening on screen.
