Dusttale is a dark Undertale fangame with new battles, remixed music, and a tense story as Sans takes on a dangerous path to stop the player once and for all.

Dusttale is a free, unofficial Undertale fangame created by Evan Streblow and released in August 2018. Inspired by the popular Dusttale AU from Ask-Dusttale, the game presents a darker version of the familiar Undertale world.

The story takes place during an unusual 328th Genocide Route. After remembering the player's previous runs, Sans decides to take matters into his own hands. His goal is to gain enough power to finally stand against the player, creating a very different version of the character fans know from Undertale. Rather than simply retelling the original game, Dusttale builds its own tense scenario around this idea. The story is intentionally presented with some mystery, leaving players to interpret parts of what happens as they progress.

FAMILIAR GAMEPLAY WITH NEW CHALLENGES

The core gameplay feels close to Undertale, combining exploration with turn-based battles. The overworld remains an important part of the adventure, while battles introduce new attack patterns for the monsters you encounter.

Each encounter can require a different approach, especially as the difficulty increases. The game also includes a more convenient inventory system, making it easier to manage your available items during the adventure.

Music plays a major role in the game's atmosphere. The soundtrack combines remixed Undertale themes with fan-created tracks, including “Reality Check Through The Skull” by DM DOKURO and “The Murder” by kartrina 130.

The battle presentation is another standout feature. Flashy effects and creative attack patterns give familiar encounters a fresh look, with the Sans battle being especially notable among fans of the fangame.
